Specializing in Total Joint Replacement (Knee & Hip) and MAKOplasty Partial Knee Resurfacing
Dr. Steven Atchison joined Orthopedic Specialists of Louisiana in 1999. Since then, he has led the way in positioning Specialists Hospital of Shreveport as an award winning, and nationally recognized facility for total joint replacement surgery. He specializes in disorders of the hip and knee. Dr. Atchison was the first surgeon to perform MAKOplasty (robotic partial knee resurfacing) and has since performed well over 500 such procedures…500 in 5 years. Currently, Dr. Atchison serves as a training surgeon for MAKOplasty, with orthopedic surgeons traveling from around the world to Specialists Hospital Shreveport to learn more about this robotic technology. He is greatly involved with the development and implementation of orthopedic robotic surgeries utilized with total joint replacements, including total knee and hip replacement.
Dr. Atchison is fellowship trained in total joint replacement, and previously served as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, and Assistant Professor of Orthopedics at the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.
Dr. Atchison and his wife, Sharye, are the proud parents of four children and are active in their church and community. He is an avid golfer and enjoys the outdoors with family and friends.
