Andrew Patton, MD is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine, Total Joint Replacement- Knee & Shoulder, Mako Smart Robotic Knee as well as general orthopedics at Orthopedic Specialists of Louisiana in Shreveport/Bossier City.
Patton says “A lot of people think because I specialize in sports medicine that I only treat athletes, but really anything can be a sport. A big part of my job is to help patients of all ages and all activity levels to maintain and restore their level of function. This can be the weekend warrior trying to get back to the gym, an elderly patient who is looking to maintain their independence, or the young athlete wanting to get back onto the playing field. In many ways, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine is the new general practitioner of orthopedic health.”
In keeping with his sub-specialty of Sports Medicine, Patton is a team player. He is on the same team as his patients, his OSL partners and his colleagues. He looks for opportunities to help… and strives to work with others to improve the team’s performance and viability.
Dr. Patton is known for leading with compassion, being a great listener and his calm, yet confident demeanor. Patients often leave his clinic and say “I feel better.” They leave feeling like they have options and that they can get better.

(3) Things to Know about Dr. Patton…
Anything can be a sport…
1. Anything can be a sport. Patton treats patients of all ages and all activity levels. Whether it is the young athlete that is recovering from an injury and trying to back out onto the field or the older adult trying to maintain their independence.
2. Your success is his reward. Patton says the best part of his job is getting to see his patients at the grocery store or at their follow up appointment in the clinic and they are BETTER. Having a patient say “Doc, I hit a homerun last week…” or a patient drops some fresh vegetables off from their garden thrilled that they are to get their hands back in the dirt.
3. Patients come first… Dr. Patton is known by the OSL scheduling team as their “angel.” It doesn’t matter if he is two steps out the clinic door or has just left the OR, if a patient needs to be seen, he will change his schedule to accommodate the patients. Additionally, he maintains an open level of communication with his OSL partners, as well as, referring physicians in the Ark-La-Tex.
Patton’s Approach to Care
