Recognized as highly skilled and known throughout the region as an innovator in orthopedics, Dr. Michael Acurio has been instrumental to the esteemed reputation of Orthopedic Specialists of Louisiana since 1996.

Acurio grew up always wanting to be a doctor. When in medical school, Dr. Acurio originally thought he wanted to go into ophthalmology, but was invited to work with his soon to be senior partner, Clint McAlister, MD and realized orthopedics was his calling.

Dr. Acurio divides his practice in (3) ways: a third hip and knee replacements; a third upper extremity/hands; a third, general orthopedics. When Dr. Acurio trained in South Carolina he did train to do all things orthopedic and he continues to enjoy the variety of his practice continues to offer 30 years later.

He is the proud father/grandfather of 5 children and 5 grandchildren. He is a huge supporter of SRAC (Shreveport Regional Arts Council), local youth athletics and several local charities throughout Shreveport- Bossier City. He enjoys scuba diving, running, and spending time with his family

Dr. Acurio sees patients at Orthopedic Specialists of Louisiana- Bossier City and performs surgeries at Specialists Hospital Shreveport.
